Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has always been a special time for our family. When I was young it meant a trip to Weatherford Texas to my Grandparents house, (my dad's parents) We have a huge family on the Howell side. My Grandparents had 10 kids! So I have lots of Uncles and Aunts and lots and lots of cousins. I can remember us cousins always had a huge football game after Thanksgiving dinner, in a vacant lot across from my Grandparents house. This was no touch football game either, it was full contact and tackle. There were many that had to have knee operations and shoulder's put back into place afterwards. It was a great time!! As we have all grown older, the football game is no more, just the memories. Since my Grandparents have died, we now have our Thanksgiving in Fritch Texas at my Aunts, dad's sister. The really cool thing about going to Fritch is that my Uncle is a huge fisherman. So a lot of us go on Wednesday and he has a fish fry on Wednesday night. It is awesome. Then the next day on Thanksgiving day we have a huge meal. There will be about 60 to 70 Howell's in my Aunts home over this weekend. We eat and remember the times that we had in Weatherford years ago. We all miss our Grandparents, and going to their home for Thanksgiving, but we are making new memories in Fritch that will last.
