Decisions

Decisions that we know are going to change things in our lives are hard to make for adults. But for teens and young people those decisions seem even tougher at times. Although as we watch our teens it seems that they make decisions on a whim and don't even think twice about it. We have had to make decisions in the past few years that we knew where best for us and our family and were we wanted to go, but hurt us really bad to make. Our daughter Kyla has been faced with a tough decision in her life recently. She came to us several weeks ago and told us what she was thinking and what she thought she wanted to do. It is a HUGE change in her life and for that matter in our life as well.
There are times I believe in life that as parents we must let our kids make their own decisions. The decision that Kyla has made is really what we would call a "grown up" decision, but she made it on her own and I am so proud of her. When she first came to us and told us what she was thinking, we were amazed and truly surprised. Cheryl and I talked about it and talked to a LOT of other people that have made the same decision, (the only difference is that their parents made their decision for them, Kyla made her own decision) and decided to let Kyla decide what she wanted to do. The first thing we told her to do is to take her time and pray before she decided anything for sure.
She came to us a few days ago and told us that she had made her decision. We are so proud of Kyla, she has removed herself from situations that she felt was going to drag her down. It was tough on her, I saw her going through a lot of suffering because of what was on her mind and on her heart, but she let God lead her. We pray that all will work out and that she will be supported by everyone around her.
