It happened

Tonight it happened! I knew the day would come, I just did not know for sure when. I knew it was getting closer every day, and here lately I knew that it would happen soon. My daughter came to us and told us that a boy had asked her to go steady. She asked me and I quote "aren't you happy for me dad", what do you say, the first thoughts that came to mind was NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
her mother seems to be happy for her, and I guess in a weird way I am as well. I mean its not like she is getting married or anything, right.

I told her that I wanted to talk to the boy, but she would not let me and her mother did not think that it would be a good idea. See I have this protection thing, I am like in the words of Bill Cosby, "I am like old yellow, I bark really loud, soon when boys come by the house, they say, you don't want to go up there, old yellow lives up there."
Then I am reminded that at the end of that movie, they SHOT old yellow. I picture myself sitting in my chair with my 12 gauge shot gun in hand, when boys come to pick up my daughter for a date, (which will be many years from now) and asking them just what their intentions were for my daughter.

One thing that I know for a fact, my daughter is a Christian young lady, she has always conducted herself that way, and I know that she will continue to be a wonderful Christian young lady. So I know that God will take care of her, and I know that she will always make the right choices. I love you Kyla, and yes I am proud and happy for you.

If it makes you feel any better Cody and I first dated in 7th grade. He broke up with me because I was too short.

So Melissa ... you're saying that this boy could be getting married to Kayla in the near future? Feel better now Matt?

I suggest you scare them. It's your fatherly right.

well........all i can say about that is that if she is the good of a person that you raised her to be that you have nothing to worry about .....but yeah scaring the boys would probably be fun.....Ive never had that happen to me.
