What is the function of a Youth Group? What is the purpose of being actively involved in a Youth Group. A youth group is a platform for establishing and instilling the Great Commandment or Great Commission that Jesus gave us in Matthew 28: 18-20. The youth group is the future of our Church. An effective youth group will always have an open Bible, committed to prayer, and the attitude of care for the people who are there.
We all need to have encouragement, connection, advice and support from a community of believers who are growing in Christ. The youth group is a place to reflect on our life and situation, build relationships that will last forever, encourage accountability, study the Bible and learn to apply it, pray for others and reach out to others around us. The youth group learns to do life together, receive care, discipleship, and learning, and learn about the ways of God through the Bible and prayer will build us up as individuals and as a Church.
Jesus himself was a part of a small group or youth group, a group of twelve. The Church go its start in Acts from this group. When we are hurting or need direction, we can get help from our youth group.
Some things to ponder:
- Youth groups are the perfect place to understand and practice relationships and feel apart of God's family.
- Youth groups are the perfect place to understand the Bible and heartfelt prayer and put it into action.
- Youth groups are the perfect place to unwind, release your stress and re prioritize your life.
- Youth groups are the perfect place to welcome your friends into church and introduce them to Christ.
- Youth groups are the perfect place to develop skills, leadership and ministry so we can be better servants to our Lord.
I am always excited about our youth group, you guys always lift me up and impress me more and more every week. The more active we all become in our small group, the more we will grow with God, the more we can help each other. So lets make sure that we are all "plugged in" to our group as much as we can, and pray that God will help us all grow more and more closer to him.
