Success

When you Google the word success, you get only one kind of result. Like the above picture shows success by the world's standards is trying to find the gold at the end of the rainbow, or how much money I have in my account or how fancy of a car we drive. We all fall into this lie that the devil tells us at times in our lives. I am not so sure that I am not battling this very thing right now in my life.

As young people you are going to be told this very thing as you try to decide, "What am I going to do with my life, how am I going to succeed." Think about a group of graduating surgeons. These surgeons work very hard at their studies and spent a lot of time in school to become surgeons. What if after they graduated, they lost their hands and could not perform surgery any longer. Would their life still be a success?

Think about pro athletes. Some put all of their eggs in one basket, they build their success on football, or baseball or basketball. Then when they have a career ending injury, how is their success determined then?

Jesus in the Bible took on this very subject. Matthew 16: 26, " For what will a man profit, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange of his soul? What is worth giving up your soul?

We also look at the Rich man and Lazarus, the rich man's possessions did not help him when his passed and went into the place of torment. In fact he wanted to go back and tell his family, but it was too late. He built his success on his possessions and not God. Luke 16:19-31.

As all of you think about, what am I going to do with my life, and you start thinking about careers. Build a great career be anything that you want to be, but build your success on something that can not be taken away. Build your success on God and on his word. Jobs and possession's can be taken away and it can devastate us, but God is always there. Think about where you will be in 40 years or 50 years, one thing is certain, wherever you are God will be with you, your possession's may not!
