Powerful Words

When i was young i loved to watch looney tune cartoons, i still like to watch them when i can catch them on. I can remember Yosemi te sam's words to Bug's Bunny, "Them there's fighten words rabbit." We don't realize how powerful our words are and how dangerous our tongue is. Two things that our words do:

1) Words shape our lives and the lives of others that hear what we say:

2) Words reveal the faith we have in our own lives:

• There are about 800,000 words in the English language.
• 300,000 are so Technical that only a few people know them.
• The average person uses only about 5,000 words in every day speech.

So just 5,000 words to communicate, ideas, emotions and desires. We must choose these words very carefully. We should use words that build up and not tear down. We will talk about some of these words tonight in our class. We will read James 3:2-12 and look at how the tongue is very powerful. Then Sunday morning we will look at the words Christ used on the cross, and how these very words can be an example to us. Bring with you to class tonight words that build you up, and words that you don't like to hear that tear you down. See all of you tonight!!
