Veterans Day

Veterans day is sometimes a day that for some of us, just means maybe a day off, and we really don't see the importance of it. There are a lot of men and women that have fought for our freedom and are still fighting for that freedom. We should thank them today, for what they do. About a month ago I was in another town filling my car up with gas. This man driving a U-haul and pulling another car behind the U-haul, pulled up next to me to get gas. I noticed the plates were from New York. When he got out of the truck he had on an Army uniform. I got to talking to him about where he was from and where he was going. He told me that he was from New York, but he was going to El Paso to be with his wife who was also in the service. He had gotten back from a second tour in Iraq and his wife had been there once. He told me that he had not seen his wife for a very long time and he could not wait to see her and when he got to El Paso he was retiring from the service.
I don't think I realize how much these men and women gave up, and are still giving up for you and for me to have freedom. I can not imagine being away from my family for that long. I know a young man that is in Iraq at this moment and has been away from his family for a long while. He is coming home this weekend for about 3 weeks and then going back to stay in Iraq for about a year. I can not wait to see him, and tell him thank you. So if you know a Veteran or if you know of someone serving now in the service, no matter what you think about the war or politics, say thank you to these men and women, they are working for all of us.

Some of the kids in LTC that signed up for bulletin board worked on some of the boards at the Church building yesterday, Thank you to all of you guys, the boards that we did look really great. I had lots of comments on them after Church Sunday night. Thanks to Teddy for helping me with "Blue Box" last night as well, the young kids really enjoyed it. I have put a link on the blog to the 'Youth Calendar", I will update it every month, so make sure to check it out, to see what is going on. We have a lot of things happening in the next couple of months, especially in December. We will go to Childress this Sunday the 18Th, so be ready to leave around 1:30pm from the Church building.

I have also put a link to my e-mail, so please feel free to e-mail any comments that you do not feel comfortable putting on the blog, just nice one's though:). Thanksgiving is coming up in about a week and a half can not wait for all the food. Hope all of you have a great week, and we will see you all on Wednesday night.

1 Samuel 12:20

"Do not be afraid," Samuel replied. "You have done all this evil; yet do not turn away from the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart.
