VBS and Stuff

Our VBS is fast approaching! Saturday June 28Th is the day. We all decided that a one day VBS would be good for this year. We have a lot planned! The theme for this year is "Wild West." Our youth group will hit the streets Friday the 27Th to invite everyone that we can think of to our VBS. We hope to get some of our local cowboys to ride horses with us as we knock doors. This will be a great outreach for our youth. Please pray for our VBS, that it will be successful and that we can reach lots of kids in our community. Also thanks to all of those who have helped plan this with us this year. We could not do this without you.
My lakers got beat:( , and I am not talking to Melissa Culwell, because of the comments made on the blog! Just kidding, its just a game right? There is always next year.
Dylan is doing better at swimming, he jumped off of the diving board yesterday. He is beginning to show signs of actually swimming. He is overcoming his fear and that is great. He has said that he will never learn how to swim, and we keep reminding him that he can do anything through Christ. The same goes with the baseball. He is getting frustrated with not hitting the ball, he is so close to knocking it out of the park, just swinging a bit over the top of the ball. I am not a big baseball guy, so I am not sure how to help him, except to just keep pitching them to him and keep encouraging him. He will do it before the season is over.
Kyla has games this weekend in Amarillo. This is her last tournament for the summer. With the price of gas this year has been kinda tuff to play in too many tournaments, so we just played in 5 this year. She is spending a lot of time at the swimming pool, she is part fish.
Both kids have been doing chores around the house some during the week, while they are home. We decided that we would pay them some for each chore that they do. Kyla has a checking account that she has really never used. We opened it for her when we sold her first show pig. We decided that she needed to learn how to work and make money and deposit money into her account and learn how to write checks and balance a check book. We have explained to her that just because you have check's does not mean that you have money. I think this will be good for both of them, to learn to work and make money and for Kyla she will learn about banking and taking care of a check book. Dylan does not have a checking account, he just keeps his in his can in his room. We also told them that they need to give part of what they earn each week to the church. We believe that giving is so important, and we want to start teaching them that now.
We also want to teach them to save up for the things that they want and pay cash for them.
Well that's about it for now. Have a great weekend!
