Self Worth

We have been talking a lot the last two weeks about the words that we use. Our discussions turned, to words that are used towards us that don't make us feel very good. Some of the things that kids say to each other at school really are disturbing and very hurtful. Others can make us feel like we are not worth much, and it really is sad. I know that some of you are struggling with this and i want to reassure you how God feels about your worth.
Worth = Who you are in Jesus Christ:
True self worth can only be found by who we are in Jesus Christ. While a lot of people focus on the outer appearance and defines worth according to "what you look like." God looks at the inside, at the Heart. The world also focuses on achievements and defines worth according to "What you do." God is more concerned with "who you are." We must remember that we strive to please God and not this world, "If i were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ" (Galatians 1:10)
So like we have talked about in class, when words are used against you that make you feel bad and not worth anything, remember that God loves you. Recently i have told both of my children that there is nothing that they can do, that would ever make me stop loving them. God is the same way, there is nothing we can do that will make God stop loving us. God created us, we are all unique and he Love's us all. So hold your head up high, you are God's children and you mean more to him than anything, and don't let those hurtful words get you down.

Wed. night we will do something a little bit different. We will talk about "giving it to God." We all have things that we worry about or problems that just seem never to get solved. So bring those worries and problems to class and we are going to "give them to God." Don't worry i am not going to make you tell everyone in class you darkest secrets, but we are going to tell them to God. Hope to see all of you there.

The inspiration for building an image doesn't come from the Holy Spirit. 'Beth Moore - from the Daniel study'. I just thought that was a great saying. Might apply to your teaching. Joda was very touched in class Wednesday, and it reminded me that teen issues are as complicated as adult issues and that I spend to much time worring about big issues that I could not do a thing about and need to give to God. Your doing a great job. Debbie

Debbie, thanks for the encouragment.

I am glad that Joda was touched by our class. Giving things to God and forgeting them is sometimes hard for all of us. Hope that we helped her.
