Who's on First??

I have always been a sports fanatic. Basketball has always been a passion of mine. I have always said that i wanted my kids to play and be great. We have always had a basketball goal and i have always tried to teach Kyla my wonderful skills, (ha ha). Recently since Kyla is very involved in Volleyball we lowered our basketball goal so that Dylan could start practicing. He has been out there every day playing and he is starting to take a big interest in basketball.
I have found recently though that my attitude has changed. See i have been praying that God would change me to be the Husband and Father that he wants me to be. With all that goes on in the world, and with recently working with our youth program i have seen how important it is that my children become Christians first. In recent months i have tried to tell my kids, no matter what you do in life always keep God first and everything else second. I am very proud of my children, i think sometimes they do a better job at this than i do. Before school started Kyla had a volleyball camp to go to in Amarillo. The camp was on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night from 6 to 8. It was a tough thing to tell Kyla that she could not go to camp on Wednesday night, because we would be in church. My wonderful daughter understood this like a real adult, and i am so proud of her. We told her that we wanted to keep God first in our lives, and that as long as we did this he would bless us. We have spent a lot of time practicing basketball and other sports that we want to be great at. Its easy to put God on second base and other things on first.
In today's times there is so much going on in our kids lives that try to drag them away from church, and i think that is sad. I pray for our children today that God will keep them safe, and i pray that they always strive to be Christians first.
We will have class tonight and i look forward to seeing everyone there. We will have some surprises for you tonight. Remember Friday lunch at the Church building and bring a Friend. I hope that all is going well for each of you at school, remember our lesson from a few Sunday's ago "Dare to be Different." I am proud of each of you and remember God is there, and you are in his presence at all times!!
